Watch and jewelry tradeshows that attract buyers from around the world

Tradeshows are indispensable for buyers as an opportunity to develop new purchasing routes, purchase pieces that are not on the market, and interact with business partners. Some large tradeshows last several days and attract tens of thousands of visitors.
Since the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, many tradeshows have had to be canceled or postponed. As of May 2021, most are still suspended, but some tradeshows in some host cities are reopening depending how the situation develops. While online transactions are active, buyers of reused items have a strong need to verify them firsthand, so demand for tradeshows will likely remain strong.
Of the many tradeshows held all over the world, here we introduce popular tradeshows that showcase used luxury brand watches and jewelry, some of their highlights and their schedule.
(Information is current as of May 26, 2021.)

(1) IWJG (International Watch & Jewelry Guild): One of America’s largest watch and jewelry tradeshows, touring different cities around the country.

http://www.iwjg.com/
IWJG is held about 10 to 12 times a year in cities all over the U.S., like New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami and Dallas. It handles mainly used luxury brand watches such as Rolex, Audemars Piguet, and Patek Philippe. Participation in the tradeshow is open to IWJG members only, and the guild has 7,800 members in 72 countries. IWJG’s participants are mainly from the US, but many Japanese companies participate as well because the popularity of luxury watches makes it easy to trade at high prices.
Since the end of 2019, IWJG has been forced to cancel or postpone its real tradeshows and events other than online transactions because of the spread of COVID-19. But as of May 2021, it is gradually reopening its in-person tradeshows in cities that allow events, like Orlando and Miami.
IWJG Miami took place on May 24 and 25, 2021. The schedule for further tradeshows has not yet been announced, but it’s likely to be posted soon so keep an eye on the official website and Facebook.

This is thanks to the promotion of trade liberalization and to Hong Kong’s status as a special administrative region with no customs duties or consumption tax, both factors that may contribute to the vitality of the tradeshow.
As of May 2021, the tradeshow was most recently held on May 25, 2021. The schedule for further tradeshows has not yet been announced, but it’s likely to be posted soon so keep an eye on the official website and Facebook.

More efficient purchasing through tradeshows and online auctions

These are seven of the world's most popular tradeshows of used luxury brand watches and jewelry.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the situation is still unstable, with limited host areas and sudden cancellations or postponements, but many tradeshows are working hard to gradually reopen to meet the needs of participants. For buyers, tradeshows are an important opportunity to strengthen relationships and meet new partners. We hope that soon life will return to normal and it will be possible to visit various tradeshows with no travel or movement restrictions.
With so many obstacles to planning to attend tradeshows, it’s a good idea to expand your online purchasing routes. In addition to online tradeshows, more and more buyers around the world are now using online auctions to purchase items. Online auctions make for efficient purchasing because you can stock a wide range of items with no travel time.
Among Japanese online auctions which are attracting attention from buyers around the world, Star Buyers Auction in particular is popular for its rich selection of products and high quality. It allows you to check out and bid on a broad lineup of pieces, including those types of items featured at the tradeshows above. You can register online here, and registration is completely online.
Star Buyers Auction can be a great complement to tradeshows.
